Use cases

Follow one topic everywhere

A topic doesn’t live in one place. It shows up in a video on Monday, an article on Tuesday and a Reddit thread on Wednesday. Put all of those Sources in one Operation and read everything about your topic in one stream, written the same way.

The recipe

One Operation, many kinds of Source. The filter and the instruction apply the same way to every new item, wherever it comes from.

  1. Sources

Add every place your topic comes up: YouTube channels, RSS feeds of publications and blogs, podcasts and subreddits, all in the same Operation. Owlie checks each one every hour.
  2. Filter

Write AI criteria that describe the topic, such as “electric vehicle charging: networks, standards, pricing”. One criterion applies to every video, article, episode and post, so the stream stays on topic.
  3. Transform

Choose Analyze with AI and write one instruction for everything, or choose Structured content to give every item the same fields, whether it started as a video, an article, an episode or a post.
  4. Deliver

Results from every Source land together in your Inbox, under one Label, each with a link to its original. Send them to a webhook or read them over MCP to collect the topic in one place.

Example

Illustrative example with made-up items. Three new items from three kinds of Source pass the same criteria and become Results in the same format.

  1. New items

What Owlie found at one hourly check, from three different Sources.

    Extracted content

    YouTube · EV review channel
“…the new connector worked at every station on our road trip, but two chargers were stuck at half speed…”

    RSS · Energy news site
“Regulators approved a single charging standard for new public stations from 2028…”

    Reddit · r/electricvehicles
“Is anyone else paying more per kWh at fast chargers since the price change last month?”
  2. Criteria and instruction

One filter and one instruction for every Source in the Operation.

    Filter and Analyze with AI

    AI criteria
Electric vehicle charging: networks, standards, reliability or pricing.

    Instruction
In two lines: what happened and why it matters to an EV driver.
  3. Results

One stream, the same format, each linking to its original.

    Inbox

    Video · Road trip test
The new connector worked everywhere, but some chargers ran at half speed. Plan longer stops on busy routes.

    Article · Charging standard
One charging standard for new public stations from 2028, so fewer connector types to plan around.

    Post · Fast-charging prices
Drivers report higher per-kWh prices since last month. Check before you charge.

Variations

The same recipe with different Sources and fields.

  • Everything about your company

Combine the news sites that cover your industry, the YouTube channels that review your products and the subreddits of your users, and keep every item that mentions your company.

  • A competitor dossier

Follow a competitor’s blog, its YouTube channel, the podcasts its founders appear on and the subreddit of its users, with structured fields for launches, pricing and complaints.

  • A research topic

Follow the labs, journals’ feeds, explainer channels and discussion communities of one research topic, and ask for the finding and the evidence behind it.

  • A conference or launch week

For one week, follow everything that covers an event, then turn the Operation off. Your Inbox keeps the Results under its Label.

Good to know

What this recipe can and can’t do today.

  • One filter and one instruction per Operation

Every Source in an Operation shares its filter, instruction and delivery. When one Source needs different rules, put it in its own Operation with the same Label.

  • Each Source has its own limits

Videos are read from their transcript, podcast episodes are transcribed first, and Reddit posts are read without their comments. The pages for each use case describe them.

  • Similar items stay separate

When the same news appears in a video and an article, each becomes its own Result. Owlie doesn’t merge or deduplicate stories across Sources.

  • What it costs

AI criteria cost at least 1 credit for every new item they read, from every Source. Each Result costs 1 credit plus its AI usage, and podcast audio adds 0.25 credits per minute. New accounts start with free credits.

Questions

Short answers to what people ask most.

  • Can one Operation follow different kinds of Source?

Yes. YouTube channels, RSS feeds, podcasts and subreddits can all be in the same Operation, and you can add or remove Sources later in its settings.

  • Is there a limit to how many Sources I can add?

There is no set limit per Operation. Each new item costs credits, so busy Sources with no filter use more of them.

  • Can I see which Source a Result came from?

Yes. Every Result shows its Source and links to the original video, article, episode or post. Webhook deliveries include the Source too.

  • Can I use keywords instead of AI criteria?

Yes, and keyword checks are free. For a podcast, keep in mind that the filter reads the transcript, so every episode is transcribed first.
