Free, open-source CLI on GitHub (opens in a new tab)

Turn the web you follow into useful information

Monitor websites, feeds, channels, podcasts and communities. Filter what matters, transform it into text or structured data, and send the results wherever you need them.

One simple pipeline

Turn any web content into the information you need. Use one source or many. Run the same operation whenever new content appears.

  1. Sources

    YouTube, podcasts, RSS, Reddit, websites and more.
  2. Filter

    Everything, keywords or AI criteria.
  3. Transform

    Extract, AI analysis, or structured content.
  4. Deliver

    Owlie Inbox, webhook or MCP.

The open-source engine behind Owlie

Owlie is built on the Owlie CLI, a free, open-source extractor you can run yourself. Use it on its own, or let Owlie run it for you.

  • Free to use

    Open source under the Apache 2.0 license. No account, no credits.

  • Runs on your machine

    Extract articles, YouTube transcripts, podcast episodes and feeds from your terminal, or call it from your own code. Podcasts are transcribed locally, and nothing passes through Owlie.

  • Your own keys

    Bring your own DeepSeek or OpenAI key. It stays in a local store on your machine and is sent only to the provider you choose.

  • The same engine as Owlie

    Owlie runs the CLI on a schedule to read articles and YouTube videos, then filters, transforms and delivers what it finds.

Terminal

npm install -g @owlieio/owlie

# Extract a page and process it with your model
owlie process "https://example.com/article" --prompt "extract key information"

# Extract a YouTube transcript
owlie extract "https://youtu.be/..."

# List the latest items of a feed
owlie list "https://example.com/feed.xml" --limit 20

Turn any content into structured JSON

Illustrative example based on the Owlie CLI v0.6.0 release notes. Name each field and describe what to extract, and every new item becomes a Result in that shape. It works the same for videos, articles, podcast episodes and posts.

  1. Extracted content

    Text Owlie extracted from a GitHub release page.

    Owlie CLI v0.6.0
    Released Oct 1, 2026

    Added
    - owlie extract <page URL> returns the article when the page is one.
    - One proxy for all extraction traffic, set with OWLIE_PROXY_URL.
    - YouTube /embed/<id> and /v/<id> URLs.

    Changed
    - Owlie now requires Node.js 22 or later (was 20).
    - YouTube /live/ and /shorts/ URLs fail with VALIDATION_ERROR.

    Fixed
    - A fetch stopped by a timeout no longer crashes the process.
  2. Fields

    Each field has a name, a type and a description of what to extract. The fields are the whole instruction.

    Fields: what to extract

    {
      "version": {
        "type": "text",
        "description":

        "type": "boolean",
        "description":
          "Is it worth upgrading now?"
      }
    }
  3. Structured Result

    Each field filled as described, ready for your Inbox, a webhook or MCP.
